Purpose

The World Karate Confederation was established at the founding conference on May 4, 1996 in Frankfurt am Main (Germany).
The ideological inspirer and founder of this organization was Dr. Fritz Wendland (Germany). In 1996, 22 federations from 3 continents were members of the WKC. At the very peak of development, WKC members were international federations from more than 100 countries. At the moment, the WKC includes international organizations from more than 45 countries around the world. Such a decrease in membership is due to the fact that people from the WKC organized new international organizations such as: WUKO, WUKF, IKU, the illegitimate WKC.

The history of the organization of the illegitimate WKC.

In 2021, during a videoconference, the WKC Executive Committee decided to hold the next XIV World Championship for cadets, juniors and seniors and the XIV World Cup for children in Cheboksary (Russia).

However, contrary to the decision of the Executive Committee of the WKC, Marko Nicovic, while still using the right of the President, held under the name WKC (which he had no right to do) the European Championship in Resita (Romania), and this year the so-called World Championship in Belgrade (Serbia).

Marko Nicovic, by his actions, deceived the members of international WKC organizations, misled them, thereby completely violating karate etiquette and the WKC Charter, which led to a split in the organization and the emergence of an illegitimate WKC led by Marko Nicovic on the international arena.

In order to distinguish from the illegitimate WKC, our organization is now called the World Karate Confederation, founded by Fritz Wendland. The World Karate Confederation, founded by Fritz Wendland, constantly conducts international seminars to improve the skills of judges and coaches, as well as international competitions.

The WKC rules are distinguished by their universality, democracy and tradition. They do not discriminate one style over another. The kata competitions are held separately for each style: shotokan, shito-ryu, goju-ryu, wado-ryu, shorin-ryu, fudokan and kobudo. In these styles, all sub-style directions are recognized. Kumite competitions are held in two directions: traditional ippon-kumite – a fight up to one ippon in the absolute weight category and sports sanbon-kumite – a fight up to three ippons, taking into account weight categories.
In 2021 , according to the decision of the WKC Executive Committee , Viacheslav Timofeev (Russia) was appointed Acting President of the World Karate Confederation

In 2022, at the Congress of the World Karate Confederation founded by Fritz Wendland, the Executive Committee unanimously elected Vyacheslav Timofeev, the owner of 9 Dan (Russia) President of the World Karate Confederation founded by Fritz Wendland
